North Shore residents interested in learning about protecting our unique rainforest are invited to attend an educational walking tour of the area in January.
The tour will be lead by local flora and fauna expert Bernard Whitehead, with the aim of teaching participants how to identify and eradicate noxious weeds. Dates for the walk will be advised in coming weeks.
NSPA President Narelle Milligan said the area was being threatened by invasive weeds and, while the NSPA and Landcare had received funding recently under the Caring for Country programme, it was important that local residents pitch in.
She recently toured the area with Port Macquarie Hastings Council ecologist Bill Peel in order to prepare action plans for the Caring for Country project which will kick off in the new year.
